Mrs. Kathy R. Horton, age 71, of Vidalia, died Thursday, January 1, 2026, after a sudden illness. She was a native of Washington County, Florida, living in several cities in Florida before moving to Vidalia in 1975. She was the owner of the Flower Box and Humpty Dumpty Day Care in Vidalia. She was Baptist by faith, and she enjoyed fishing, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Preston Russell and Annie Mae Finch Russell; and siblings, Patricia “Pat” Russell Storm, Leo Preston Russell, Lorna Inell Green Shaw, and an infant sister, Annis Russell.
Mrs. Horton is survived by her husband of fifty years, Eddie Horton; two sons, Greg Horton and wife Lori and Jason Horton and wife Casey; three grandchildren, Cason Horton, Jacey Horton, and Chessley Horton, all of Vidalia; one brother, Linnie Russell and wife Laney; one sister, Glenda Russell Redmon and husband James, all of Washington County, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Sunday afternoon, January 4th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with her nephew, Reverend Keith Horton officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until just prior to the funeral service.
