Mrs. Karen M. Jones, age 69, of Vidalia, died Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after an extended illness. She was born in Okolona, Mississippi, moving to Gulfport, Mississippi, then Mobile, Alabama and later Austin, Texas. She was a 1972 graduate of Davy Crockett High School in Austin, Texas. She moved to Toombs County in 1973 and worked for Oxford Industries and was office manager for her brother’s business, Moore Coating Company. Later, she was the manager of Bath and Body Works in Vidalia for fourteen years. She was a member of South Thompson Baptist Church, and she enjoyed needlepoint, quilting, scrapbooking and arts and crafts. She is preceded in death by her parents, Murl Moore and Martha Evelyn Monaghan Moore; and brother, Richard Murl Moore.
Her family includes her husband of forty-nine years, Jim Jones of Vidalia; two sons, James Jones and fiancé Danielle Moss of Vidalia, and Robert “Bob” Jones and Christina Schmanske of Mooresville, North Carolina; one grandson, Wyatt Oak Jones of Mooresville, North Carolina; one sister, Ann Almand and husband Bobby of Shady Dale, Georgia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Wednesday morning, February 14th, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor BL Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Kenny Thompson, Robert Roberson, Kelvin Rauton, Darrell Copeland, Travis Weekly, and Mike Young.
