Karen Shockley Altman, age 62, of Glenwood, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, at her sister’s home following an extended illness. She was born in Kokomo, Indiana, and as a child moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she lived until moving Glenwood in 2023. She attended Terry Parker High School. Karen enjoyed the beach, especially Jacksonville Beach. She loved her dog, Kachina, and she was a loving and giving person. Preceding her death was her son, Anthony Louis “Tony” Shockley; mother, Kay Frances Childs Grimes and stepfather, Robert Grimes; and father, Cager Sonny Shockley.
Her family includes three siblings Teresa Shockley Bullock and husband Shane, John Dees and wife Maria, all of Jacksonville, and Wendy Wilson of Glenwood; four grandchildren, Adaya, Kiania, Caden, and Xavier; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be announced later.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, PO Box 210, Vidalia, GA 30475.
