Mr. Julian Lee Lockley, age 88, of the Normantown Community, died Thursday, June 2, 2022, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Marvin Yancey Community in Toombs County and lived in Vidalia and Normantown most of his life. He retired after forty-two years from Piggly Wiggly Southern as a truck driver. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of Bible Baptist Church. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and was a good handyman. He is preceded in death by his parents, Myles Preston “Buddy” Lockley and Doris Pecola Kersey Lockley; six siblings, Millard Lockley, Milton Lockley, James Lockley, Mary Lockley Davis, Johnnie Will Lockley Davis, Marjorie Lockley Davis; and daughter-in-law, Diane Clark Lockley.
His family includes his wife of sixty-six years, Betty Sharpe Lockley of Normantown; three children, Leah Lockley Fant and husband Barry of Kathleen, John Lee Lockley, Sr. and Jeff Lockley, both of Normantown; four grandchildren, Stephen Fant and wife Katey of Warner Robins, John Lee Lockley, Jr of Jacksonville, Florida, Carly Fant Bell and husband Jesse of Kathleen, and Myles Lockley and wife Cortney of Normantown; two great-granchildren, Sadie Grace Bell and Caroline Mary Fant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, June 5th, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Stark and Mr. Jim Dowd officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until just prior to the service.
