Mrs. Julia Kight Dees, age 88, of Vidalia, died Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Meadows Park Health & Rehab in Vidalia following an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County and a 1955 graduate of Montgomery County High School. Later, she moved to Uvalda and Cedar Crossing before moving to Vidalia in 1978. Earlier in her life, she worked at Oxford Industries, and retired in 1999 from Wholesale Building Products, formerly Choo Choo Supply, and continued to work part-time there. She was Baptist by faith, and she enjoyed fishing at Shellman Bluff.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Jones Dees; parents, Marcus Lee Kight and Sarah Lou Avant Kight; and six siblings, Rudene Kight Parker, James Marcus Kight, Leon Kight, Louise Kight Pinkerton, Sarah Lee Kight Irwin, and Joe Kight.
Mrs. Dees is survived by three children, Andy Dees and wife Delores of Travelers Rest, South Carolina, Debbie Dees and Tracey of Monticello, and Terri Dees and Buddy Smith of Reidsville; five grandchildren, Bobby Dees of Vidalia, Chase Dees of Coopers Landing, Alaska, Melonie McBride and husband Adam of Vidalia, Anna Beth Willett and husband Billy of the Ohoopee Community, and Caleb Brinson and wife Kristin of Mt. Vernon; ten great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning, June 10th, 2026, at 10:00 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.
