Judy Mason

Mrs. Judy Mason, age 73, of Lyons, died Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at her home after a sudden illness.  She was born November 4, 1949, in Laurens County, to the late Arlie Cleo Watson and Elizabeth Lucy Campbell Watson.  She moved to Lyons in 1962, attended Lyons High School, and worked thirteen years at Moore’s Department Store in Vidalia.  She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lyons, where she sang in the choir and was a children’s Sunday school teacher.  She enjoyed shopping, puzzle books and spending time with her family.  In addition to her parents, a brother, Bobby Watson, precedes her in death.

Her family includes her husband of fifty-five years, Arthur Mason of Lyons; three daughters, Shirley Coursey and husband Mike of Massena, New York, Jeannie Biddle of Vidalia, and Paula Mason and fiancé Brian Kelly of Aiken, South Carolina; two sisters, Carolyn Watson Clifton and husband “Frog” of Griffin, and Beverly Watson Day and husband Steve of Huntsville, Alabama; two brothers, William Watson and wife Judy of Winder, and Ben Watson of Lyons; three granddaughters, Ashley Brantley of Vidalia, Adrian Darling and husband Andrew of Canada, and Chelsey Gibbs and husband Gary of Lyons; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Brantley and John Henry Darling; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be Saturday, April 15th, at 2:00 p.m. at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Plowman officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
