Mrs. Joyce Castillo, age 64, of the South Thompson Community, died Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was born in Douglas, as a child moved to Montgomery County where she lived until moving to Toombs County in 2014. She was a homemaker; she enjoyed painting, crafts, and flowers; and she loved her grandbabies. She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernard Johnson and Cleo Walkup Johnson; two sisters, Fannie Ruth Durden and Christen Johnson; and one brother, Melvin Johnson.
Survivors include her husband of forty years, Leandro Castillo of South Thompson; three children, Jesse Castillo of South Thompson, Haley Phelps and husband Charles of Lyons, and Sonni Castillo of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Jaden Braddy, Jaslin Phelps, and Mackenzie Phelps; two brothers, Raymond Johnson and wife Marilyn of Tarrytown, and Gail Johnson and wife Theresa of Mt. Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
