Miss Joy Bailey, age 85, of Vidalia, died Monday, March 9, 2020, in Treutlen County Health and Rehabilitation in Soperton, after an extended illness. She was a native of the Kibbee Community and a 1953 graduate of Montgomery County High School in Kibbee. She was a graduate of Northwest Beauty School in Atlanta. She was a cosmetologist and worked as a hairdresser for Boot’s House of Beauty in Vidalia. She was the founder of Joyce’s Coiffeurs in 1975 and worked there until her retirement in 2012. She was a member of the Higgston Baptist Church and enjoyed flowers and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Burl Bailey and Nora Lamar Allmond Bailey; two sisters, Qunnell Thigpen and Mary Bailey; and three brothers, James Edward “Dick” Bailey, Jake Bailey and Clarence Bailey.
Miss Bailey is survived by one sister, Wynoka George and husband Edward of the Center Community; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 10th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Wilkes officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
