Mrs. Joni Watts Dean, age 45, of Lyons, died Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina after a brief battle with Covid. She was a native of Mt. Vernon, a 1994 graduate of Montgomery County High School, and earned an Associate degree from Brewton-Parker College. She lived in Montgomery County all of her life before moving to Lyons in 2020. She was a member of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. Joni loved to make others smile, and her enjoyment was to serve others. She enjoyed and was devoted to keeping her grandchildren, and her two fur babies. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Sharpe Watts.
Her family includes her husband of twenty-six years, Tony S. Dean; two children, Kayla Jernigan and husband Brett, all of Lyons, and Tyler Dean and wife Jodie of the Sharpe Spur Community; three grandchildren, Isaac Jernigan, Elijah Dean and Henley Jernigan; her father, Danny H. Watts; one brother, Chris Watts, both of Mt. Vernon; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, special friends, including a nephew, Lane Watts, and a niece, Pacey Watts.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Monday, September 6th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
