Johnnie (Thigpen) Sharpe

Ms. Johnnie Thigpen Sharpe, age 74, of Soperton, died Friday, January 26, 2018, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, after a brief illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Treutlen County, and was Baptist by faith.  She worked with Ailey Manufacturing in Soperton and Oxford Industries in Vidalia for many years, and retired from Easter Seals, now known as Middle Georgia Diversified Industrial.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Sharpe; parents, Sylvester Thigpen and Shellie Pearl Copeland Thigpen; two sisters, Grace Phillips and Dorothy Nell Wimberly; a brother, Junior Thigpen; and a granddaughter, Sierra Sharpe.

Ms. Sharpe is survived by three sons, Jimmy Sharpe, Sr. of Vidalia, Dennis Sharpe of Pooler, and Donnie Sharpe of Soperton; one sister, Brenda Cowman and husband Irvin of Brunswick; former husband, James E. Sharpe of Soperton; two grandchildren, Jimmy Sharpe, Jr. of Montgomery County and Amber Sharpe of Statesboro; two great-grandchildren, Rayce Sharpe and Maddox Sharpe; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor June Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
