John W. Cason

Mr. John W. Cason, age 93, of Uvalda, died Saturday, September 28, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Uvalda, living in Savannah for a few years and returned to Uvalda in 1958.  He retired after twenty years from the Georgia Department of Transportation and was a member of the Charlotte United Methodist Church and also served as Trustee.  He enjoyed gardening, wood working and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Georgia Clark Cason in 2016; parents, Jimmy Dawson Cason and Ruby Dell Adams Cason; two sisters, Lucy Cason Swinson and Addren Garrett; and two brothers, Grant Cason and Billy Cason.

Mr. Cason is survived by two sons, Melvin Cason of Ailey, and Jerry Cason and wife Cathy of Uvalda; four grandsons, Jeremy Cason and wife Shonda of Uvalda, Jordan Cason of Uvalda, Miles Cason and wife Wendi of Ailey, and Mel Cason of Ailey; six grandchildren, Jett Cason, Jackson Cason, Banks Cason, Barnes Cason, Samara Cason and Kyleigh Hyers; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 1st, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Shareon Womack and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Uvalda City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
