John P. Wilson

Mr. John Paul Wilson, age 90, of Higgston, died Saturday, July 4, 2026, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. He was born on September 30, 1935, in Montgomery County to the late Lehman Wilson and Nina Mae Braddy Wilson. He was raised in the Kibbee Community and was a 1954 graduate of Vidalia High School. He moved to Atlanta in 1955, and began a career with Sears and also graduated barber school, becoming a master barber. He returned home in 1967, working with Sears and serving his community and southeast Georgia, day and night as an appliance repairman and retired after fifty-eight years. He was Baptist by faith, and he enjoyed playing cards, camping, traveling, and being with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Paul; one sister, Lona Wilson Stewart and brother, Larry A. Wilson.

Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of seventy years, Juanita Wilson; three children, Deborah Wilson Paul and husband Rick, Rhonda C. Wilson, and Barry K. Wilson, all of Higgston; one sister, Shelby Wilson Kramer and husband Billy of the Center Community; five grandchildren, Chad Helms and wife Jessica of Higgston, Benjamin Paul and wife Keisha of Lyons, Brent Helms of Vidalia, Corey Wilson of Higgston, and Michael Helms and wife Andrea of Glennville; fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held Thursday morning, July 9th, 2026, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
