Mr. John A. McDaniel, Jr., age 83, of the Snow Hill Community, died Monday, June 15, 2020, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia. He was a native of Wheeler County and lived in the Snow Hill Community most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Earlier in his life, he worked with Delta Airlines as an aircraft mechanic and retired from Robins Air Force Base as a sheet metal mechanic, working on F16s and other fighter aircraft. He was a member of White Springs Baptist Church, the Senior Adult Sunday School Class, served as Deacon and sang in the choir. John enjoyed the outdoors, including moose, deer and bear hunting; he also enjoyed panning for gold, playing the violin, karaoke and sailing. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-five years, Charlie Jo McDaniel; parents, John Alexander McDaniel, Sr. and Audrey Hall McDaniel; twin brother, James Hall McDaniel; and a sister, Etta Lee McDaniel Henry.
Mr. McDaniel is survived by two children, Angela McDaniel Phillips and husband Pasco, and Mark A. McDaniel and Amanda Keelin, all of Snow Hill; seven grandchildren, Joshua Phillips and wife Ashley, Catherine “Katie” Meadows and husband Kris, Elizabeth Burkett and husband Bryce, Rebecca Phillips, Kole Alexander McDaniel, Madison Alexa McDaniel and Savannah Lynn; eight great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17th, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Dr. Wayne Durden and Pastor W.R. Connell officiating. Burial will follow in the White Springs Baptist Church cemetery in Laurens County.
