Mr. John Thomas Hadden, Jr., age 76, of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, died Friday, November 15, 2024, at his home after a sudden illness. He was born in Brunswick, grew up in Gordon, and lived there until moving to Vidalia in 1965. He was a 1966 graduate of Vidalia High School. John attended Middle Georgia College in Cochran and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Industry from Georgia Southern College. He began his career with Georgia Power on line construction and later worked with Southern Nuclear at Edwin I. Hatch Plant as quality control supervisor until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of Vidalia United Methodist Church and was an active member of Vidalia Masonic Lodge #330. He served twelve years on the Vidalia Board of Education. John enjoyed golf, fishing, quail hunting, field trials, his friends, and making new friends. He is preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Joy Downie Hadden; parents, John Thomas Hadden, Sr. and Lash Fowler Hadden; and an infant brother, William Lash Hadden.
His family includes his three children, John Thomas Hadden III and wife Jennifer of Watkinsville, Robert D. “Robbie” Hadden and wife Brenda, and Rebecca “Becky” Hadden, all of Vidalia; one brother, Dale Hadden and wife Pat, and one sister, Reba Hadden Peters, all of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Madeline Hadden and Jack Hadden of Watkinsville, Ryan Hadden and Mary Hadden of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Saturday morning, November 23rd, at 10:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 11:00 with Reverend David Blalock officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery in Soperton with Masonic Rites.
