Mr. Jimmy Wayne McGahee, age 67, of the New Branch Community, died Friday, July 5, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County, living in Lyons most of his life, and in New Branch since 1993. He attended Lyons Senior High School. He worked with Fiber Optic Communications in Vidalia, Kennedy Cable in Reidsville for twenty-eight years, and was an over the road owner/operator truck driver for twenty-one years. He attended Mt. Moriah Church and Cedar Crossing Baptist Church. Jimmy was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs, NASCAR, and he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and loved to operate any type of heavy equipment. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olan Jackson McGahee and Lulu Lavette Hines McGahee; and sister, Audrey Faye McGahee Kight. He loved his family and spending time with his friends.
His family includes his wife of forty years, Lisa Sapp McGahee of New Branch; one sister, Patricia McGahee Williams of Lyons; one niece, two nephews, several cousins, and his precious beloved pet, Radar.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday morning, July 9th, at 11:00 at Mt. Moriah Church with Pastor Michael Kennedy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
