Jim Beck

Mr. James Richard “Jim” Beck, age 81, of Vidalia, died Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a sudden illness.  He was born and raised in Cartersville, Georgia; he was a 1961 graduate of Cartersville High School and was state singles tennis champion.  He worked at Lockheed-Martin in Marietta for several years, and in 1976, he moved to Vidalia and worked at Edwin I. Hatch Plant for more than thirty years, retiring as Maintenance Supervisor.  After his retirement, he worked at Rocky Creek Golf Club.  Jim enjoyed the outdoors, especially playing golf and fishing.  He supported his grandchildren’s activities and sports, and spending time with his family at Lake Sinclair.  His parents, Elmer Edgar Beck and Laura Belle Leach Beck, precede him in death.

His family includes his wife, Sharon Beck of Vidalia; four children, Deidre Sutton and husband Dewayne of Cartersville, Bruce Mulkey and wife Tracy, Ben Beck, and wife Leigh Ann, and Josh Beck and wife Sarah, all of Vidalia; two brothers, Nick Beck and wife Jennie, and Brooke Beck and wife Diana, all of Cartersville; two sisters, Betty Beck Satterfield of Blairsville, and Judy Beck Thompson and husband Dennis of Panama City, Florida; thirteen grandchildren, three great-granddaughters, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday afternoon, February 17th, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Reece Mincey and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating.  Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
