Mr. Jesus Alvarez, age 75, of Lyons, died Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home in Lyons after an extended illness, surrounded by his family. He was born on March 23, 1951, in Jalisco, Mexico to the late Antonio Alvarez and Cruz Martinez Alvarez. As a young man, he moved to Los Angeles, California, later living in Florida, eleven years in North Carolina before moving to Lyons in 2000. He was hard-working and a good provider for his family and was a labor contractor since 1992. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Cathedral in Savannah. He loved spoiling his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Amilia Alvarez; sister, Guadalupe; and two brothers, Javier Alvarez and Guillermo Alverez.
He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Emilia Alvarez; three children, Luis Antonio Alvarez and wife Jessica, all of Lyons, Jessica Chee and husband Allen of Savannah, and Alexander Alvarez of Lyons; eight grandchildren, Luis Alvarez, Jr., Jesus Alvarez, Jr., Emilia Alvarez, Lily Vendl Thom Vendl, Alexander Vendl, Sebastian Vendl, and Elizabeth Vendl; seven siblings, Josefina, Roberto, Maria, Jose, Estella, Irma, and Victoria Alverez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, May 15, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Father Gordon officiating. Interment will follow at Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
