Mr. Jerry W. Hartley, age 56, of Glenwood, died Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following an extended illness. During the time his father was serving in the U.S. Army, Jerry was born on June 29, 1969, in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late Raymond D. Hartley and Silvia Rosemary Hacker Hartley. The family lived there and Florida before returning to Wheeler County in the mid-1980’s. He was a 1989 graduate of Wheeler County High School and worked more than forty years at Toombs Auto Machine in Lyons. He enjoyed horticulture, especially carnivorous plants and building and racing RC cars.
He is survived by two children, Joey W. Hartley and Emily of Glenwood, and Rebecca Hartley Faulk and husband Blake of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, Paisley Hartley, MacKenzie Faulk, Adley Hartley, and Easton Faulk; and one brother, Doug Hartley of Glenwood.
The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating. Interment will follow at Stuckey Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
