Mr. Jerry R. Coleman, age 77, of the Center Community, died Friday, February 14, 2020, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Miami, Florida and was a 1960 graduate of Hialeah High School. He worked several years in the family business, C & J Delivery in Miami; he was a member of the Teamsters Union and retired from Roadway Trucking. After retirement, he moved to Center in 2000, was Baptist by faith, was a member of Vidalia-Lyons Moose Lodge #1281, and enjoyed antique hotrods. He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn Coleman; one son, William Lee Coleman; and his parents, Willie E. Coleman and Thelma Carter Coleman.
Mr. Coleman is survived by five children, Julia Aqunio, Jeanette Coleman, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Jerry Coleman, Jr., Joey Coleman of Douglasville, and Vickie Coleman of Delaware; one brother, Buddy Coleman and wife Patty of Center; one sister, Delores O’Keefe of Boone, North Carolina; five grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, February 17th, at 11:00 a.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Emory Fennell officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
