Mrs. Jean Chambers, age 72, of the McNatt Falls Community, died Sunday, May 31, 2020, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Dexter in Laurens County, living in Macon for several years before moving to McNatt Falls in 1974. She retired after thirty-eight years from Altamaha Bank & Trust. She enjoyed reading and flower gardening. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Nadine Scarborough Matthews; a brother, Daniel Fred “Danny” Matthews; and a nephew, Michael Matthews.
Mrs. Chambers is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Buddy Chambers; one son, Russell Chambers and wife Katrina; three grandchildren, Allie Walker, Makenzie Chambers and Cohen Chambers; one brother, Benny R. Matthews of Macon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 2nd, at 11:00 a.m. in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery with Reverend Melvin Kramer officiating.
The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
