Mrs. Janet M. Hamilton, age 80, of the Kibbee Community, died Saturday, December 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family, following a brief illness. She was born in Indiana, living in Connersville, Indiana, for many years before moving to Vidalia in the mid 1990s, later moving to Montgomery County. Earlier in her life, she was a medical transcriber for a few years, which led her to a love of nursing, becoming a registered nurse. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Georgia Southern University. She worked at Wheeler County Hospital, Meadows Regional Medical Center, Meadows Health & Rehab, Oxley Park Health & Rehab, and she also taught nursing courses at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. She was Methodist by faith. She enjoyed decorating her home; she was an avid NASCAR fan, especially her one and only, Jeff Gordon. She enjoyed oil painting on canvas, especially flowers. Her parents, Walter Rodenburg and Donna Darrow Rodenburg, precede her in death.
Her family includes her husband of twenty-six years, Lendle Hamilton of Kibbee; four sons, Mark Cox of Connersville, Indiana, Steve Cox and wife Laura of Marysville, Ohio, Bryan Cox and wife Kelly of Westfield, Indiana, and Brian Hamilton and wife Sonja of Kibbee; two sisters, Norma Bertch and husband Jim of Cambridge, Indiana, and Linda Kiaser of Illinois; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be Tuesday morning, December 10th, 2024, at 10:00 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery with her sons, Steve and Bryan Cox officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 689 Old Kibbee Road North, Vidalia, GA 30474.
Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home of Vidalia is in charge of arrangements.
