Mr. James Q. McRae, Jr., age 79, of Glenwood, died Saturday, October 5, 2024, at Memorial Health in Savannah, following a brief illness. He was a native of Wheeler County, living all of his life in Glenwood, and was a 1963 graduate of Glenwood High School where he played basketball. He worked with Coca Cola as Plant Manager in Vidalia, retired as Plant Manager in McRae after forty years, and proudly and blessfully never had to take a sick day during his career. He enjoyed sports, especially when it was directly related to his grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father, James Quinton McRae, Sr., mother, Myrtle Doris Hill; and a sister, Patricia McRae Barron.
His family includes two children, Jamie McRae and wife Shan of Jesup, and Natalie McRae of Glenwood; one brother, Wayne McRae and wife Ronda of Glenwood; four grandchildren, Cody McRae of Jesup, Cierra Rollins of Lyons and Landon Pickle and Brianna Pickle of Glenwood; and one nephew.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be Tuesday morning, October 8th, 2024, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Gillis officiating.
Burial will follow at Glenwood City Cemetery.
