Mr. James “Howell” Crowe, age 76, of Johnson Corner, died Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County, attended Marvin Yancey School and lived in Johnson Corner all of his life. He was a self-employed carpenter and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lyons. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Crews Crowe, two daughters, Sandra Faye Crowe and Carolyn Crowe; parents, James William Crowe and Evelyn James Crowe; granddaughter, Amber Crowe; two great-grandchildren, Jed Cowart and baby Lily; and one sister, Joann Woods.
His family includes his six children, James Crowe and wife Judy of Oak Park, Debbie Smith of Santa Claus, Buddy Crowe and Wendell Crowe, both of Johnson Corner, Dustin Crowe of Lyons, and Brittany Crowe of English Eddy; one sister Shirley Pittman of Johnson Corner; ten grandchildren, Brett, Miranda, Ashley, Jordy, Sierra, Tammie Lynn, Jada, Josh, Kristina and Mark; sixteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be Sunday, May 21st, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Beckum officiating. Burial will follow at Harden’s Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
