Mr. James Hugh McCoy, age 80, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Memorial Health in Savannah after a brief illness. He was a native of Treutlen County and in the mid 1950s moved to Vidalia where he lived the rest of his life. He was well-known in the Vidalia area for repairing washing machines which he did for many years. He enjoyed his family and his long-time Earnie’s Lounge family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jessie James McCoy and Clara Elizabeth Wheeler McCoy; and ten siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Cowart McCoy of Vidalia; one son, Tim J. McCoy and wife Jessica of Springfield; three grandchildren, Brittany E. McCoy of Vidalia, Brantley J. McCoy, and Cayden Davis, both of Springfield; one brother, Cecil McCoy of Vidalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation are suggested to the Paul Anderson Youth Home, PO Box 525, Vidalia, GA 30475.
