Jackie McCumbers

Mr. Jackie McCumbers, age 76, of Soperton, died Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at his home, after a sudden illness.  He was born in St. Augustine, Florida on December 25, 1947 to the late Charlie Bernice McCumbers and Lois Ruth Lawrence McCumbers.  While in high school, he was a talented athlete, ran track, and played football.  He moved to Lyons in 1957 and lived in Soperton most of his life.  He retired after twenty-eight years as a machine mechanic from General Fibers Fabrics in Soperton.  He attended Trinity Assembly of God, and he enjoyed fishing and swimming.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Vickie Marie Lawrence McCumbers; and six siblings, Charles McCumbers, Virginia McCumbers Fields, Charles Eugene McCumbers, Carolyn McCumbers Crews, Betty Jo McCumbers Thompson, & Wayne McCumbers.

His family includes one brother, Lonnie McCumbers and wife Debbie of Jacksonville, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday, July 15th, at 12:00 noon at Trinity Assembly of God with Pastor Larry Hammock and Clayton Tanner officiating.  Burial will follow at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday morning from 11:00 until just prior to the service.
