Vidalia,
Mr. Jack Thompson, age 83, of Vidalia died Sunday, September 23, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia, was a 1952 graduate of Vidalia High School, and served two years in the U.S. Army. Jack retired after forty-seven years as Parts Manager of Threlkeld Ford of Vidalia, was part owner and operator of David Thompson Collision of Vidalia, and for many years, served as Chairman of Toombs County Charities. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, where served as a Deacon, and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class, where he served as Secretary/Treasurer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Felton and Myrtle Williams Thompson.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Sally Jo Thompson; two children, April T. Clark and husband Keith, and David M. Thompson and wife Sarah; one brother, James A. Thompson and wife Peggy of the Center Community; two granddaughters, Mahaylee Grace Thompson and Emily Thompson, all of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church Historical Sanctuary of Vidalia with Reverend Ricky Cummings and Reverend Don Moye officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
