Mr. Jack Harris Parson, age 92, of Vidalia, died Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was a native of Coffee County, growing up in Nicholls, and later moved to Swainsboro. He was a 1948 graduate of Swainsboro High School, earned an Associate degree from Georgia Military College, and attended the University of Georgia. He lived in Swainsboro and Glennville before moving to Vidalia in the late 1960s. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was co-owner of Mid South Ford dealership in Glennville and co-owner and founder of Captain’s Corner Restaurant in Vidalia and later owned both. He founded the Seawinder Restaurant in 1979 and The Tree House in 1981. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Caring and Sharing Sunday School Class. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and writing poetry. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Elizabeth Blizzard Parson; parents, Harris E. Parsons and Frances Gibson Parsons; and the grandmother who raised him, Hattie E. Busbee Gibson.
His family includes three children, Denise Parson of Vidalia, Frank Parson and wife Heather of Thunderbolt, and Michael Parson and wife Paula of Vidalia; three grandchildren, Jenna Parson Adams, Kailee Parson, and Cassidy Parson.
A memorial service will be held later.
