Iris Moore Obituary

Mrs. Iris Wiggins Moore, age 95, of Jacksonville, Florida, died Friday, October 13, 2023, at her granddaughter’s home in Jacksonville following an extended illness.  She was born November 13, 1927, in Jenkins County to the late Tom Watson Wiggins and Ada Mae Scarboro Wiggins and later moved to Emanuel County.  She was a 1945 graduate of Oak Park High School and was a graduate of Georgia Teachers College in Statesboro.  She was owner and president of Lark Builders from 1967 until 1990.  She was a former member of Lyons Chamber of Commerce and Sumter County Florida Chamber of Commerce.  She was a member of Adamsville Baptist Church in Adamsville, Florida since 1990, Pilot Club, and Red Hat Society.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Moore, Sr. in 1972, and five siblings.

Her family includes two children, Robin Lee Moore and fiancé Lonnie Tibittis of Wildwood, Florida, and Robert L. “Bob” Moore, Jr. and wife Joanie of Lyons; six grandchildren, Kelly Evans and husband Harold, John Moore, Jr. and wife Mary Dawn, Michael Griggers and wife Christina, Robert L. Moore III and wife Amy, Adam Moore and wife Lindsey, and Wesley Moore and wife Mary Georgia; twelve great-grandchildren, Lindsey Brock, Joey Bushnell, Anna Williamson, Robert L. “Rob” Moore IV, Savannah Moore, Vick Moore, Maura Moore, Mattie Moore, Anderson Moore, Amelia Moore, Natalie Moore and Sherwood Griggers; three great-great-grandchildren, Brycen Brock, Jace Brock and Cohen McCoy; one goddaughter, Michelle Isaac; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon, October 18th from 1:30 until just prior to the funeral service at 3:00.  Pastors Randy Alonso, Kenneth Scrubbs, and Christian Burton will officiate.   

Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Norristown.

Memorial contributions may be made to Adamsville Baptist Church, 4839 Warm Springs Ave., Wildwood, FL 34785.
