Mrs. Hillarie J. Smith, age 39, of Nashville, Georgia, was born on February 10, 1987, and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was proudly raised in Broomfield, Colorado, and was a 2005 graduate of Broomfield High School where she earned a softball scholarship.
She played softball and pitched for the University of Northern Colorado Bears, and earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Services. She met her husband in 2009 and they were married the following year. They started their family in England, and lived several other places as they moved with the Air Force, before moving to Nashville in 2024. She was an active member of Hope Baptist Church in Nashville where she volunteered as a youth leader. She enjoyed crafting and volunteered her sewing talents for breast cancer patients.
She is survived by her husband of fifteen years, Robert Joseph Smith; three children, Ava, Macie, and Jebediah Smith, all of Nashville; parents, Dave and Jean Van Otterloo of Broomfield; two sisters, Sarah Morehead and husband Mark of Berthoud, Colorado, and Elizabeth Lutes and husband Dan of North Wales, Pennsylvania; one brother, Cody Van Otterloo and Mitch Brown of Loveland, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home, 310 North St. West, Vidalia, GA, on Thursday evening, March 12th, 2026, from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be held on Friday afternoon, March 13th, 2026, at 3:00 at Liberty Baptist Church, 536 South Victory Drive, Lyons, GA. Pastor Matt Green will officiate. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are Mark Morehead, Mitch Brown, Dan Lutes, Jamie Cashwell, Justin Stalnaker, and Ken Wilkins.
