Mr. Herman E. Weeks, age 76, of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, May 9, 2026, at his home after a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Mt. Vernon, and was a diesel mechanic, log truck driver, and logger. He enjoyed cutting grass and horseshoes.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Ann Dollar Weeks; son, Robert Weeks; parents, Bunk and Editha Weeks; one sister, and three brothers.
Mr. Weeks is survived by Susan Lester of Mt. Vernon; five children, Rodney Weeks and wife Malena of Uvalda, Wanda Weeks and Kevin McRae of Mt. Vernon, Katrina Dykes and husband Shawn of Lyons, Nancy Smiley and husband Lazarus, and Nick Weeks, all of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Jimmy Weeks and wife Frieda of Glenwood, and Ronald “Chubby” Weeks and Teresa Galbreath of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Foncene Price of Pierson, Lori Jordan and husband Jerome of Tampa, Florida, and Eve Weeks of Callahan, Florida; sixteen grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday afternoon, May 11th, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:00 at the funeral home.
