Harvey C. Sears, Jr.

Mr. Harvey C. Sears, Jr., age 82, of the McGregor Community in Montgomery County, died Sunday, April 3, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.  He was born and raised in the Shiloh Community in Wheeler County, and lived in McGregor most of his life.  He worked at Ailey Manufacturing, Oxford Industries, Piggy Wiggly Southern, Edwin I. Hatch Plant, and retired from Hardaway Construction Company.  He was a member of McGregor Presbyterian Church, and he enjoyed farming and fishing.  Preceding him in death was an infant son, Jonathan Carl Sears; granddaughter, Cassy Dorsey; parents, Harvey Carlos Sears, Sr. and Lola Bell Lowery Sears; and a sister, Marie Sears.

His family includes his wife of fifty-four years, Carolyn O’Neal Sears of McGregor; two daughters, Cathy Dorsey and husband Terry of Lyons, and Cheryl Sears Gore and husband Scott of McGregor; one sister, Della Ann Sears Kitchens of Lumber City; four brothers, Austin Sears and wife Bonnie of Vidalia, Rusty Sears, Randy Sears, and Greg Sears, all of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Buck Dorsey and wife Cheyenne of Lyons, Mason Gore and Sierra Coleman of Vidalia, and Kate Dorsey and Jaland Kelly of Mt. Vernon; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Rylee, Jrake, Harmony, and Bailee; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be Monday, April 4th, at 12:00 noon at McCrimmon Cemetery with Pastor Wayne McDaniel officiating.
