Greg Holmes

Mr. Greg Holmes, 58, of Vidalia, died Friday, September 24, 2021, at his home after a sudden illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Vidalia, and a 1981 graduate of Vidalia Comprehensive High School.  He was a pipefitter with H.A. Sack Company in Statesboro, and earlier in his life, worked several years as a meat cutter with McLemore’s Abattoir in Vidalia.  Greg enjoyed fishing, tinkering with old cars, and spending time with his grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his father, Henry T. Holmes.

His family includes one son, Jason Holmes and wife Rachel; his mother, Elaine Gross Holmes; three siblings, Sheron Holmes Hulett and husband Joe, all of Vidalia, Danny Holmes of Higgston, and Rhonda Holmes Sheffield and husband Dale; three grandchildren, Abram Holmes, Ethan Holmes, and Lilly Holmes, all of Vidalia; and several nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.

The funeral service is Monday, September 27th, at 2:00 p.m in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Efton Green officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
