Mr. Grady Banks, age 79, of the Rock Springs Community, died Saturday, September 2, 2023, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia following a brief illness. He was a native of Toombs County, where he lived most of his life, and a 1961 graduate of Vidalia High School. He retired as a welder after forty-eight years from CSX Railroad and after retirement was a bus driver for Vidalia City Schools, including the athletic buses. He was a member of Vidalia/Lyons Moose Lodge #1281, and he was an avid Georgia Bulldog and Vidalia Indians fan. He enjoyed riding his Harley, yard work, vegetable gardening and taking it to family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter Banks and Aldene Moxley Banks.
His family includes his wife, Elaine Banks of Rock Springs; four children, Georgi Banks of Valdosta, Brett Banks and wife Toni of Vidalia, Danny Banks of Aiken, South Carolina, and George Banks and wife April of Scott; eight grandchildren, Emily, Kiley, Jaden, Cason, Colton, Corbin, Skylar, and Eli; three great-grandchildren, Nolan, Nash, and Stetson; three siblings, Hiawatha Banks Henry and husband Don of Lawrenceville, Steeny Banks and wife Carol of McRae-Helena, and Jackie Banks Pearce and husband Jerry; several nieces and nephews; and his Blue Heeler, Blue.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon, September 6th, from 2:00 until just prior to the service at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.
