Mr. Gerry M. Phillips, age 77, of Vidalia, died Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Toombs County and lived in Vidalia most of his life. Earlier in Gerry’s life, he worked with Piggly Wiggly and Sunbeam. He was also a member of a carpenter’s union, and in 1985, he purchased Kerrigan’s in Lyons. Other than working hard all of his life, his top priority was taking care of his wife and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Buford Phillips and Eudell Stewart Phillips; one brother, Kenneth Phillips; and one sister, Sara Phillips.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Lisa Loyd Phillips; one daughter, Lacie Wilkes Phillips; grandson, Brentley Sexton; honorary daughter, Brittney Sexton, all of Vidalia; two brothers, Perry Phillips and wife Ginger of Dahlonega, and Larry Phillips and wife Cynthia of Atlanta; one sister, Diane Phillips and wife Tina of North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends who looked at Gerry as their mentor, including, Jason Beckworth, Justin Skipper, Joe Bush, “Tank” Thompson, Tony Nobles, Danny Flowers, Charlie Clark, Jay Harbin, Shane NeeSmith, Dwayne Hall, Odis Clark, William Kilgore, Doug Clark, Wayne Youmans, Duncan Parkerson, Johnny Jackson, Billy Tidwell, Bobby Arnold, and R.J. Arnold.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2026, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home.
