Mrs. Geri Moore Kennel, age 72, of Higgston, died Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Savannah and lived there until moving to Treutlen County in the late 1960s. She was Co-Valedictorian at Treutlen County High School, Class of 1971. She lived in the Petross Community for a few years and worked at Piggly Wiggly in Vidalia. She and her former husband were owners of Morris Grocery in Statesboro and has lived in Higgston for the past eighteen years. She attended Oasis Church of God, and she enjoyed cooking, fishing, and flowers. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Joseph “Ron” Kennel; parents, George Thomas Moore and Verle Salter Moore McGowan.
Her family includes two children, Lori Brantley Morris and husband Clay, and Gerald Brantley and Brandy Beasley, all of Vidalia; two sisters, Sandy Moore Jones and husband Ridge of Covington, and Kaye Moore Gottehrer and husband Terry of Louisville, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Nykki, Gage, Gerret, Dillan, Logan, Bryanna, Makynna, Briar, and Hunter; six great-grandchildren, one aunt, one uncle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be Saturday morning, January 25th, 2025, at 11:00 at Oasis Church of God with the pastor, Bishop Gilbert Wommack officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
