George Tooke, Jr. Obituary

Mr. George Abram Tooke, Jr., age 79, of Tarrytown, passed away in the comfort of his childhood home in Floral City, Florida on July 4, 2025, under the loving care of his family and HPH Hospice. He was born in Brooksville, Florida, on October 19, 1945, to the late George Tooke and Eva Ray (Leon) Griner. He proudly served our country in the US Navy. He was a volunteer fireman and first responder since the age of 17. He was a retired mechanic, electrician and truck driver. George had a kind and gentle soul and would help anyone. He was a loving father, brother, papa, uncle and friend. He was happiest in a fire truck or in his boat. George was preceded in death by his father, George Tooke; his mother, Eva Ray Griner; his stepfather, Leon Griner; his sisters, Joyce Walker and Phyllis King; and his great nephew, Greg Johns.

George is survived by four children, Jorje “Eric” Tooke of Lexington, Kentucky, Cassandra Tooke, Christopher Tooke and wife Leticia of Tarrytown, and Tabitha Collins and husband Guy of Vidalia; his sister, Amanda Mullen and husband Gene of Floral City; his niece, Teresa Johns of Floral City; his nephew, Josh Mullen and wife Katie of Burien, Washington; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three great-nieces.

A memorial service will be Friday afternoon, July 25th, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Eddie Toole officiating.
