Gene Russell Oliver

Mr. Gene Russell Oliver, age 70, of Vidalia, died Friday, September 6, 2019, in Meadows Health in Vidalia, after a brief illness.  He was a native of Tattnall County and lived there until moving to Lyons in the early 1960’s.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, later living in York, Pennsylvania for seven years and returned to Lyons in the early 1970’s.  He worked with Kennedy Cable in Reidsville for several years and was a self-employed painter.  He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing.  He was preceded in death by his father, Arnie Oliver, Sr.; mother, Joan Simmons Taylor and a sister, Carolyn Kirkland.

Mr. Oliver is survived by three children, Shannon Oliver and wife Mandy, Sorina Warfel, all of Pennsylvania, and Daniel Oliver of Augusta; four sisters, Myrtice Cox of Reidsville, Teresa Wilson of Pensacola, Florida, Anita Oliver Hansen of Guyton, and Sue Oliver Rewis and husband Danny of Guyton; one brother, Arnie Oliver, Jr. and wife LaFaye of the Ohoopee Community; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held later by the family.
