Mr. Gary L. Bean, age 71, of Ailey, died Thursday, December 19, 2024, after a sudden illness while vacationing in Ellijay. He was born in Golborne, England, as a child moved to Naples, Florida and graduated high school. He retired after many years from the Georgia Department of Corrections as Mobile Construction Supervisor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air National Guard. He enjoyed the outside, especially hunting, fishing, camping, and kayaking. His wife, Cathy Wynn Bean; father, Jack Lowry Bean and two brothers, Ranson Lowry Bean and Arden L. Bean, precede him in death.
His family includes two sons, Joshua L. Bean and wife Erin of Tifton, and Hugo Montenegro of Stuart, Florida; four grandchildren, Lily Rogers of Statesboro, Mason L. Bean and Maddox L. Bean of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Rhett Rogers of Tifton; mother, Patricia Madge Crook Bean of Vidalia; four sisters, Sheri B. Morris of Ailey, Lorna Meyer of Pensacola, Simone Marks of Cape Coral, Florida, and Stella Jane Isherwood Malcom of the United Kingdom; two brothers, Michael L. Pringle and wife Jo of Australia, and Jack Thomasson of St. Petersburg, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews, and a long-time family friend, Maria Montenegro.
A graveside funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, December 22nd, 2024, at 3:30 at Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Wayne Durden officiating.
