Frances Labadie Obituary

Frances Allen Labadie, age 76, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after an extended illness.  She was a native of Toombs County, growing up in Vidalia.  She was a 1965 graduate of Vidalia High School and attended Brewton Parker College.  She worked as a hostess on the Nancy Hanks passenger train in the late 1960s.  She was a United States Air Force veteran, lived in Tallahassee for several years, and returned to Vidalia in 1979.  She was very artistic, and she enjoyed music, flowers, gardening and writing poetry.  She is preceded in death by her father,  Herbert Franklin “Hank” Allen; mother, Ossie Lee Pittman Allen; and two brothers, “Bo” Allen and Aaron Allen.

Her family includes two daughters, Trelawney Powell and husband Don, Joan “Joni” Clark, all of Vidalia; three sisters, Trelawney Allen Palmer and husband Royce, Julie Haithcock and husband Brad, and “Belle” Deloach, all of Vidalia; one brother, John Allen and wife Kelly of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, Christopher Hall, Summer Powell, Alicia Clark, Jaden Clark, Jacob Powell, Imanna Clark, Aniston Powell and Emerson Powell; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, February 9th, at 2:00 until just prior to the funeral service at 3:00 with Pastor Melvin Kramer officiating.  Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
