Frances Rodgers (Williamson) Herndon

Mrs. Frances Williamson Rodgers Herndon, age 83, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Friday, November 29, 2019 at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.  She was a native of the Williamson Mill Community in Ben Hill County, a 1954 graduate of Fitzgerald High School, and attended business school in Thomasville.  Mrs. Herndon was bookkeeper for Dixie Electron, Inc in Fitzgerald for many years.  She lived in Douglas for a number of years and as a member of Pilot International served as President of the local club and as state officer in multiple positions. Mrs. Herndon was member of Oak Grove Baptist Church near Alston.

Mrs. Herndon was preceded in death by two husbands, Grover C. Rodgers and Leon Tanner; one son, Grover C. “Buddy” Rodgers; parents, Samuel David Williamson and Clora Viola Hogan Williamson; and six siblings, John A. Williamson, Mary Gaines, Bill Williamson, Annie Ruth Ivey, Bobby Williamson, and Peggy Peavy.

Mrs. Herndon is survived by her husband, Percy Herndon of Cedar Crossing Community; one son, Randy Rodgers and Sally of Brunswick; one brother, S.D. Williamson and Gloria of Fitzgerald; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Williamson of Crestview, Florida; three grandchildren, Marcy Rodgers of Gainesville, Sam Rodgers and Laken of Fitzgerald, and Stokes Rodgers of Blakely; two great grand-children; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 30 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Robbie Fowler officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 until just prior to the service.
