Fran (Sherwood) McDonald

Mrs. Fran McDonald, age 61, of the South Thompson Community, died Friday, November 12, 2021, at her home following an extended illness.  Born in Savannah, she lived most of her life in Toombs County, and was a 1979 graduate of Lyons Senior High School.  She and her husband have owned and operated John’s County Junction for many years, and she was Baptist by faith.  Fran was an artist and was a prolific painter of portraits and landscapes.  She enjoyed anything craft related, making crafts, and giving them to her family and friends.  She is preceded in death her parents, Francis Edward Sherwood and Gladys Sherwood; and a sister, Marie Sherwood Lockley.

Her family includes her husband of thirty-six years, John E. McDonald, Sr. of South Thompson, two children, John E. McDonald, Jr. and wife Amanda of Lyons, and Amy McDonald Lynn and husband Brett of South Thompson; four grandchildren, Slade McDonald, Major McDonald, Myla Lynn, and Vivian Lynn; five siblings, Linda Richards of Lucama, North Carolina, LaVerne Hodges of Springfield, Douglas Harn and wife Debra of Hinesville, Sarah Mosley and husband Steve of Vidalia, and Elaine Kersey and husband Terry of Lyons; one brother-in-law, Maynard Lockley of Lyons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Monday, November 15th, at 11:00 a.m. at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Pastor Gary Roberson, Bishop Gilbert Wommack and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Entombment will follow.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Monday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
