Flora Belle Connell

Mrs. Flora Belle Connell, age 81, of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Treutlen Health and Rehab in Soperton.  She was a native of Montgomery County, a 1960 graduate of Montgomery County High School, and was a graduate of business school in Macon.  She lived in Macon for many years, working for Dr. Daniels as his office manager, before returning to Montgomery County in 1996.  She was a former member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and Pink Lady and Auxilian at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia.  She was a member of Bear Creek Baptist Church and Beta Phi Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha.  She enjoyed traveling, watching classic TV, talking on the phone, and loving on her cats and dogs.  She is preceded in death by her husband, David “Ace” Azar; stepdaughter, Pamela Azar; parents, Mitchell B. Connell and Hattie Fountain Connell; three brothers, Oscar Connell, Austin Connell, and Allen Connell; and two sisters, Eva Connell Coleman and Johnnie Connell Thigpen.

Her family includes one brother, Russell Connell of Mt. Vernon, one sister-in-law, Carolyn Parker of Mt. Vernon; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.

A graveside funeral service will be Wednesday afternoon, March 8th, at 3:00 at Bazell Connell Cemetery with Pastor Owen Waters officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
