Fenton Lee Talley

Mr. Fenton Lee Talley, age 88, of the Ohoopee Community, died Sunday, April 10, 2022, at the Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness.  He was a native of Ohoopee in Toombs County, attended Ohoopee School, and was a 1952 graduate of Lyons High School.  He worked with Seaboard Coastline Railroad, which later became CSX where he later retired.  He was a member of the Ohoopee Baptist Church and Lyons Masonic Lodge #49.  Earlier in his life, he enjoyed gardening, playing the piano, was an excellent whistler of popular tunes, and he always loved local and American history.  Preceding him in death was his wife, Zelma Jarriel Talley; parents, Hovas Talley and Earline Shepard Talley; and one brother, William Harley Talley.

His family includes four children, Timothy L. Talley of Jonesboro, Jeanne Talley Fitzgibbons of Orange Beach, Alabama, Phillip B. Talley of Jonesboro, and Lisa Talley Henderson and husband Craig of Flowery Branch; three grandchildren, Randy C. Fitzgibbons and wife Lorie of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Nicholas Henderson and wife Laurel of Suwanee, and Joshua Henderson of Huntsville, Alabama; three great-grandchildren, Maya Fitzgibbons, Beck Fitzgibbons, and Adelyn Fitzgibbons; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, April 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Ohoopee Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Dupree and Johnny McCullough officiating. Burial will follow at the Ohoopee Community Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Ohoopee Baptist Church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
