Mr. Farris Lawrence, age 86, of Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, October 19, 2025, at The Oaks Bethany in Vidalia following an extended illness. He was a native of Montgomery County, living in Brunswick for several years, but returned to Montgomery County in 1979. He was a heavy equipment mechanic working at Tidewater. He also worked at Trane for eleven years in air handler assembly. He was a member of Uvalda Baptist Church. Farris enjoyed watching Westerns, and he loved animals, owning goats, chickens, cats, and dogs.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Waugh Lawrence; parents, Ezra Tillman Lawrence and Loney Carolyn Smith; and four siblings, Ruth Lawrence Durden, Frances Lawrence Roberson, Willie T. “Buddy” Lawrence and Sylvester Lawrence.
He is survived by two brothers, Wilbert Lawrence and Harold E. Lawrence and wife Donna of Alston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday afternoon, October 21st, 2025, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Adrian Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Walker Cemetery near Alston.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
Pallbearers are Michael Lawrence, John Carpenter, Barry Lawrence and Alex Roberson.
