Eunice (Jewell) Dickey

Mrs. Eunice Jewell Dickey, age 95, affectionately known as “Ma Dickey” and “Gran Dickey”, went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2025. She was born in Emanuel County and lived most of her life in Toombs County. She worked at Lyons Manufacturing for several years, and was manager at Red Carpet Restaurant in Lyons and Santa Claus Restaurant. Mrs. Dickey was a member of New Beginnings Church of God in Lyons. She was devoted to her Lord, her family, and her church, teaching children’s church for seventy years and enjoying every minute of it. She enjoyed crafts; she was a great cook, baking cookies for the sheriff’s office and every doctor’s office she went. But she was mostly known for her witness of God’s goodness, and she never met a stranger. When asked how she was doing, her reply was always the same, “I am blessed”.

Mrs. Dickey is preceded in death by her husband of sixty-two years, Willie Adrey “W.A.” Dickey; father, John Jewell and parents, Ruby Lee Kight Copeland and Mark Copeland; and brothers, James Jewell, George Copeland, Henry Copeland, Bobby Copeland, Eugene Bryant, and Melvin Copeland.     

She is survived by four children, Faye Dickey Clark of Vidalia, Leon Dickey and wife Patsy of the Center Community, Steve Dickey and wife Kathy of Lyons, and Vicki Dickey Roberson and husband Pastor Gary of Vidalia and she considered her son-in-law and daughters-in-law her children too; one sister, Brenda Tyson of the Ohoopee Community; one brother, Mark “Junior” Copeland and wife Dorothy of Dade City, Florida; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great-grandchildren, two great-great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and two special friends, Lilly Wilcher and Alma Fitchett.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.

The funeral service will be held on Friday morning, December 19, 2025, at 11:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with her nephew, Jerry Dickey and Pastor Mike Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Rodney Gibbs officiating.
