Esther (Beasley) Dowd

Mrs. Esther Beasley Dowd, age 81, of Rock Springs Community, died Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at her home after an extended illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County and lived in Cedar Crossing and Rock Springs Community.  She worked at Rosebud Manufacturing and Cedar Crossing Manufacturing.  She was a charter member of Lyons Holiness Church and she enjoyed sewing, shopping, cooking, baking and taking care of her family.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Henry Dowd; two daughters, Bernice Dinah Dowd and Lisa Beasley Smith; and five brothers, C.A. Beasley, J.W. Beasley, Mark Beasley, Billy Beasley and W.L. Beasley.

Her family includes three children, Marvin Dowd and wife Shirley of Rock Springs, Reverend Clayton Dowd and wife Wendy of Tifton, and Drayton Dowd and wife Kathy of Rock Springs; one sister, Reba Waller of Cedar Crossing; one brother, Jimmy Beasley and wife Jimmy Lou of Lake Wales, Florida; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, August 21st, at 3:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Hughes and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow at Cedar Crossing Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
