Ellen Lavonia (Hardee) Hudson

Mrs. Ellen Lavonia Hudson, age 87, of Oak Park, died Tuesday, May 8, 2019, at her home, after an extended illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Oak Park and retired as a pharmacy technician from Pittman’s Pharmacy and Candler Pharmacy in Metter.  She was a member of the Oak Park Church of God, was a songwriter, and enjoyed singing, sewing, fishing, and helping people.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend D.L. Hudson; a son, Joseph Larry Hudson; parents, Joe and Geneva Hardee; a sister, Mary Lou Peebles; a brother, Willard Hardee; and one great-great grandson, Hunner Lane Cox.

Mrs. Hudson is survived by three daughters, Edie Norton and husband Kyle of Vidalia, Elaine Cox and husband Benny, and Barbara Garrett and husband Raymond, all of Oak Park; two sisters, Dorothy Feltman and husband Ed of Alabama, and Joann Burkett and husband Russell of Vidalia;  and one brother, David Hardee and wife Betina of Statesboro; five grandchildren, Sheila Caraway, Deloris Kersey, Phillip Cox, Sharon Fitch, and Pam Hacker; twelve great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, May 10th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oak Park Church of God with Aaron Moncrief officiating.  Burial will follow in the Oak Park City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Oak Park Church of God from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
