Edwina (Phillips) Willis

Mrs. Edwina Phillips Willis, age 82, of Vidalia, died Thursday, July 23, 2020, at her home after an extended illness.  She was a native of Emanuel County, growing up in Stillmore and moved to Toombs County in 1951.  She retired from Oxford Industries after thirty years and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia.  She loved fishing, watching the Atlanta Braves, football, softball and reading, especially Stuart Woods, and playing computer games.  She coached girl’s recreation softball for numerous years.  She was preceded by her husband, Eschol Willis; parents, Edwin Phillips and Ellie Jane Sutton Phillips; and three sisters, Theda Phillips, Martha Phillips and Edna Newman.

Mrs. Willis is survived by two children, Randall Willis and Joy France; two grandchildren, Violet Jones and husband Nick, and Clinton France and wife Julie, all of Vidalia; eight great-grandchildren, Sage, Bryson, Mattie, Hailey, Kinsey, Taylor, Ethan and Nevaeh; and one great-great-grandchild to be born in January; two sisters, Clyde Phillips of Wrens, and Nita McNeal of Stillmore; two brothers, Rufus Phillips of Swainsboro, and Jimmy Phillips and wife Judy of Garfield; former daughter-in-law, Genne Day and husband Wayne of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 26th, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor and Reverend Andy Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Zaidee Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Treutlen County. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.  Guidelines set by the CDC should be followed at the visitation and the service.
