Mr. Edward Batay, age 56, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at his home following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and he attended Vidalia High School. He worked as a floor tech at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia for thirty years. He was Baptist by faith, and he enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, and watching wrestling and horror movies. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Batay, Sr. and Linda Sue Faircloth Batay.
He is survived by his sister, Penny Cranford and husband Michael of Reidsville; daughter, Siarra Calhoun; two grandchildren, Kavari and Kaspen Cooper, all of Glennville; two nephews, Dalton McCumber (USN) and fiancé Maddie Rockford of Waterford, Connecticut, and Austin Cranford of Glennville; former wife, Teresa Batay of Vidalia; and his many devoted friends and supportive work family at the hospital.
A private family service will be held later.
