Mrs. Edna Gibbs Fountain, age 96, of Vidalia, died Friday, October 18, 2024, at her home. She was a native of the Toombs Central Community, a 1945 graduate of Toombs Central School, later moving to Vidalia where she lived the rest of her life. She was a former member of Hardens Chapel Church and a current member of Vidalia Cornerstone Church and the Ladies Sunday School Class. She was an auxilian at Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, a member of three local bridge clubs and the Ladies Golf Association at Vidalia Country Club. She began playing golf at the age of 35, and over a span of 16 years, she won 14 Ladies Club Championships. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four years, Hubert C. Fountain; one grandson, Hope Achenbach; parents, Thomas Gibbs and Lalia O’Neal Blount.
Her family includes two children, Joy F. Page and Chess Fountain and wife Sherry; three grandchildren, Wendy A. Meeks, Blake Fountain, and Haley F. Clements and husband “Pug”; five great-grandchildren, Deanna Glisson and Ashton Kight, Maggie Meeks, Parks Glenn, Wilder Glenn, and Asher Clements; one sister, Joyce Gibbs Harrison of Anniston, Alabama; and caregivers, Brenda Wiggs, Pansy Dunford, and Sarah Hart.
The funeral service will be Monday, October 21st, at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor David Blalock and Jose Caraballo officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 11:00 until just prior to the service.
